We protect your information. Our Privacy Policy

Copalana takes all necessary steps to keep your personal information safe and secure. We don’t share or sell your information with third parties. It is important for us to make you feel safe and secure using our platform. With this private policy, we want to be transparent with what information we collect and how we use it.

What personal information we collect

No login is required to browse the Copalana platform to get an overview of projects and campaigns. The following services are available once you create a Copalana account:

  • Make a payment
  • Create a campaign
  • Participate in our community (blog/comments)
  • Send feedback

Copalana Account Data

1) Create an account

It is very easy to setup a Copalana account and start sponsoring projects/campaigns, or participate in our community; we need some basic information to get going. You can setup an account either through Copalana or by using a secure social media platform such as Facebook or Google. The following information is required to setup your account:

  • Name, address and email.
  • Username and password.

If you choose to login/register via a social platform, we only retrieve your public profile information (name, email address, photo).

You can also add some more color to your profile by optionally sharing additional information about yourself. This makes it easier for you to connect with people who care about common social topics. Any information optionally added (for example motto, interests, social media links and pictures) will also be publicly viewable.

2) Delete your account

You can logically "delete" your account from your dashboard. We will anonomyze the following data: First & Last Name and email id. As a result, we will no longer be able to identify your past activity on the platform.

Sponsor a Project/Make a Payment

You will need to login to your account in order to sponsor a project or campaign. Once you decide on the amount you wish to contribute, you are required to provide your credit card information. We send your credit card information to our partner (SIX payment services) for secure processing. Your credit card information is not saved on our servers.

Once a project is fully funded, your card will be charged, and the funds will be transferred to the NPO via Credit Suisse. We will also send you an email to notify you of the amount being charged along with the name of the NPO and project. In the event the project is not fully funded or does not meet its goals, you will equally be notified that your card will not be debited.

100% of your funding goes to project

We do not charge non-profits for using our services and don't take any commission from donations to non-profits. Credit card charges apply and are deducted automatically from the transactions.

When you make a payment, you have the option to either openly display the amount you contributed to the project, or keep this information anonymous (this is the default). In this case we will not share this information with anyone.

Become a Champion, Create a Campaign

When you create a campaign, you are required to login to your Copalana account. The campaign wizard guides you to articulate your motivation in wanting to start a campaign, as well as how much you aim to raise for your campaign. You will also need to upload your picture, if it cannot be collected automatically from a social media channel (e.g Facebook, Google, etc.). Your campaign information is stored in our platform and visible to everyone.

As a campaign champion, you will automatically receive updates via email as your community interacts with your campaign: fund it, write comments in your blog, or share it with others. Care and Share: You can “Care and Share” by sharing your personalized campaign with your friends and family network via social media/email. All contributions resulting from your social marketing will lead them to your personal campaign page, where they can sign in (create a Copalana account) and make a contribution. Copalana has no control or responsibility over comments and posts on social media platforms relating to your campaign. You will be able to see in your Dashboard who contributes towards your campaign, as well as the amount they contributed (if the person wants to make this visible). Otherwise you will just see who contributed, but not the amount.

Participate in our Community

We encourage you to participate in our community and share your opinion. Once you login via your account, you will be able to write comments as well as upload pictures about events, activities, etc. The Voice of the Community section shows what people care about in a visual word cloud. You can participate in our survey and share information about causes your care about and other demographic information. This information is displayed in an aggregated way in the word cloud, but otherwise not shared with anyone. Send Feedback: We hope you will provide feedback via our Talk to Us channel. Tell us about your ideas for worthy projects, features we should add, or bugs that we should fix. This information is treated confidentially, and not shared with anyone.

Notifications and Newsletters

You will receive notifications if you are following or have sponsored a project/campaign. Such notifications will be visible in your personal dashboard once you login. From time to time, we will send you information about projects/topics that may interest you. You can unsubscribe anytime by logging into your account and deactivating the notifications/newsletters.
