TAPF (The Akshaya Patra Foundation) Switzerland founded in April 2020 is a not-for-profit association based in Baden. Problem We Are Trying to Solve
As per an India Today report, the pandemic has left 120 million people jobless and an estimated 100 million people will be pushed under the poverty level (earning less than $1.25 per day). The aftermath of the crisis may last over 18 months.
A survey of the vulnerable sections, mostly from the unorganized sector, shows a significant number of people earn an income of less than $125 per month. During the pandemic, 67% of workers from the unorganized sector lost their livelihood due to the lockdown.
As per the Azim Premji University COVID19 livelihoods survey, 74% of these households are consuming less food than they were before the lockdown. As per the R&A report 54% of the families had absolutely no income during the lockdown.
Unprecedented economic impact of the pandemic and continued lockdown is pushing the vulnerable towards a health led poverty trap.
How We Are Going To Do It
Our goal is to raise CHF45K over the month-long campaign. Our plan is to donate 3000 Family Happiness kits, each kit costs CHF15.
1 Happiness Kit = CHF 15 = Meals for a family for 15 days
The Happiness Kit comprises grocery items, immunity boosters, educational material, hygiene kits and sanitary napkins where applicable.
The most vulnerable and marginalized communities and households across rural India and in urban cities.
Long Term Impact
Food poverty and lack of access to regular, healthy and nutritious food is a barrier to development and puts the futures of millions of children at risk, not only impacting individual lives, but the potential of their wider communities. The vision of TAPF of No child in India should be deprived of education because of hunger touches upon six out of the 17 UN SDG's: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health & Well-Being, Quality Education, Gender Equality and Reduced Inequalities.
Let us all unite together and do our part in ensuring that the most vulnerable and marginalized communities can dream of a future that offers them food security, health, opportunities and hope.
What We Need To Do
We need your generosity and financial support to reach and beat our goal of Fr.45000 during the month-long campaign.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and help for this very needy cause.
